UPSC JSO, JTO Eligibility Criteria:
Educational
Qualification:
1. Air
Worthiness Officer –
(A) EDUCATIONAL:
(i) Bachelor
degree in Physics or Mathematics or Aircraft Maintenance or Engineering
Degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical or Electrical or Electronics or
Telecommunication from a recognized University.
(ii) Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s (AME) License endorsed in
either of the Categories B1 or B2 issued by Directorate General of Civil
Aviation. Note: Person holding Engineering Degree in Aeronautical may be
considered without possessing a valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s (AME)
License. (B) EXPERIENCE: Three years of Aircraft Maintenance experience on an operating
aircraft in an Aircraft Maintenance Organization approved by Directorate
General of Civil Aviation.
DESIRABLE: Work experience in a continuing Airworthiness Management Organization
or Aircraft Maintenance Organization.

2. Air
Safety Officer – EDUCATIONAL: Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from a recognized University
|
3. Livestock
Officer –
(A) EDUCATIONAL:
(i) A Bachelor’s Degree in the Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry
as listed in the First Schedule and Second Schedule of the Indian Veterinary
Council Act, 1984 (52 of 1984) from a recognised university or institution.
(ii) Registration in the Veterinary Council of India or Veterinary
Council of States
(B) EXPERIENCE: Three years’ experience in the Cattle and Livestock Development or
Animal Health or Poultry or Meat and Meat Products from Central Government or
State Governments or Union territory Administration or Statutory organization
or autonomous bodies, institutes recognised by the Government.
DESIRABLE: Master’s Degree in Veterinary Science from a recognized university or
institute; OR Two years’ additional experience in the Cattle and Livestock
Development or Animal Health or Poultry or Meat and Meat Products from the
Central Government or State Governments or Union territory Administration or
Statutory organisations or autonomous bodies or institutes recognised by the
Government.

4. Junior
Scientific Officer (Ballistics) –
(A) EDUCATIONAL: Masters Degree in Physics or Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or
Forensic Science with Physics or Mathematics as one of the subjects during
all the three years of bachelor of Science level from a recognized
University.
(B) EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in research and analytical work in the field of
Ballistics in any central and state organization or recognized institute or
university or forensic Science laboratories under Central Government and State
Government.
DESIRABLE: Experience of working in a Forensic Science Laboratory

5. Junior
Scientific Officer (Biology) –
(A) EDUCATIONAL: Masters Degree in Botany or Zoology or Microbiology or Biotechnology or
Biochemistry or Physical Anthropology or Genetics or Forensic Science with
Botany or Zoology as one of the subjects during all the three years of
Bachelor of Science level from a recognised university OR B.E or B. Tech. in
Biotechnology from a recognised university.
(B) EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in research and analytical work in the field of
Biology in any Central and State Organisation or recognised institute or
university or forensic science laboratories under Central Govt. and State
Govt.
DESIRABLE: Experience of working in a forensic science laboratory.

6. Junior
Scientific Officer (Chemistry) –
(A) EDUCATIONAL: Masters Degree in Chemistry or Associateship diploma of the Institution
of Chemist by examination* or Biochemistry or Forensic Science with Chemistry
as one of the subject during all the three years of Bachelor of Science level
from a recognised University. Note:* Associateship diploma of the Institution
of Chemist by examination qualification will be applicable only for the
departmental scientists available on the date of notification of the RR
(amendment).
(B) EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in research and analytical work in the field of
Chemistry in any Central and State Organisation or recognised institute or
university or forensic science laboratories under Central Govt. and State
Govt.
DESIRABLE: Experience of working in a forensic science laboratory.

7. Junior
Scientific Officer (Physics) –
(A) EDUCATIONAL: Masters Degree in Physics or Applied Physics or Computer Science or
Electronics or Forensic Science with Physics as one of the subjects during
all the three years of Bachelor of Science level from recognised University
OR Bachelor of Engineering or B. Tech. (Civil or Electrical or Mechanical or
Electronics or Telecommunication or Computer Science or Instrumentation) or
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or Electronics and Communication
Engineering (ECE) or Information Technology or Electronics and Electrical
Engineering (EEE) from recognised University.
(B) EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in research and analytical work in the field of
Physics in any Central and State Organisation or recognised institute or
university or forensic science laboratories under Central Govt. and State
Govt.
DESIRABLE: Experience of working in a forensic science laboratory

8. Public
Prosecutor –
(A) EDUCATIONAL:
(i) Degree in Law of a recognized University.
(ii) Basic knowledge of word processing on computer and internet.
(B) EXPERIENCE: Seven years practice as an Advocate in conducting criminal cases or
seven years experience of State Judicial Service or Legal Department of State
or Central Government.

9. Junior
Translation Officer –
EDUCATIONAL:
(i) Master’s Degree of a recognized University in Hindi with English as
a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the
degree level;
OR
Master’s degree of a recognized University in English with Hindi as a
compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree
level;
OR
Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than
Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective
subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level;
OR
Master’s degree of a recognized university in any subject other than
Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective
subject or as the medium of a examination at the degree level;
OR
Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than
Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subject or
either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or
elective subject at degree level;
and
(ii) Diploma or Certificate course from recognized University or
institute in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa or two years’
experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in
Central or State Government office including Government of India Undertaking.

10. Assistant
Engineer Grade-I –
(A) EDUCATIONAL: Bachelor of Engineering or Associate Member of Institution of Engineers
(AMIE)** or Engineering Degree in Mining, or Mechanical or Drilling from a
recognized University or Institute. (**Only those students who were enrolled
with Institutions with permanent recognition up to 31.05.2013 would be
eligible.)

11. Assistant
Survey Officer –
(A) EDUCATIONAL: Bachelor of Engineering or Associate Member of the Institution of
Engineers (AMIE)** or B.Tech degree in Civil or Mining Engineering from a
recognized University. Note: ** (Only those students who were enrolled with
Institutions with permanent recognition up to 31.05.2013 would be eligible)
(B) EXPERIENCE: Two years experience in surveying including Total Station, GPS,
Theodolite Surveying, traversing, leveling, contouring, Computer Software
under registered engineering or surveying establishment, mine and dam.

12. Principal
Officer (Engineering) –
EDUCATIONAL:
(i) Certificate of competency of Marine Engineer Officer Class-I(Steam
or Motor or Combined Steam and Motor) as specified in Section 78 of the
Merchant Shipping Act,1958 (44 of 1958) or equivalent as specified in section
86 of the said Act and five year’s Service at sea of which one year service
as Chief Engineer or Second Engineer.
(ii) Certificate of competency of extra first class Engineer as
Specified in Section 78 of the Merchant Shipping Act,1958 (44 of 1958) or
equivalent as specified in section 86 of the said Act and Ten year’s of
experience in survey and inspection of foreign going merchant ships and
equipments on board such Ships OR Post Graduate Diploma in Maritime Operation
and Management awarded by the Indian Institute of Technology or equivalent
and twelve years of experience in survey and inspection of foreign going
merchant ships and equipments on board such ships OR M.Sc degree in Maritime
Affairs covering all aspects of ‘Administration of Maritime Safety and
Environment Protection from the World Maritime University, Malmo, Sweden or
equivalent’ and twelve years experience in survey and inspection of foreign
going merchant ships and equipment on board such ships.

13. Senior
Lecturer (General Medicine) –
(A) EDUCATIONAL:
(i) A basic University or equivalent qualification included in any one
of the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) and
must be registered in a State Medical Register or Indian Medical Register.
(ii) M.D. (Medicine)/M.D. (General Medicine) from a recognized
University/Institution or equivalent.
(B) EXPERIENCE: Three years’ teaching experience in the concerned Speciality after
acquiring post-graduate qualification as Lecturer/ Registrar/Senior Resident/
Demonstrator/ Tutor in a Recognized Medical College/ Teaching Institution.

14. Senior
Lecturer (General Surgery) –
(A) EDUCATIONAL:
(i) A basic University or equivalent qualification included in any one
of the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) and
must be registered in a State Medical Register or Indian Medical Register.
(ii) M.S.( Surgery)/ M.S.( General Surgery) from a recognized University/
Institution or equivalent.
(B) EXPERIENCE: Three years’ teaching experience in the concerned Specialty after
acquiring postgraduate qualification as Lecturer/ Registrar/ Senior Resident/
Demonstrator/ Tutor in a Recognized Medical College/ Teaching Institution.

15. Senior
Lecturer (Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases) –
(A) EDUCATIONAL:
(i) A basic University or equivalent qualification included in any one
of the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) and
must be registered in a State Medical Register or Indian Medical Register.
(ii) M.D. (Tuberculosis)/M.D. (T.B. and Respiratory Diseases)/ M.D.
(Medicine) with T.D.D, D.T.D., or D.T.C.D. /M.D. (T.B. and Chest Diseases)
from a recognized University/Institution or equivalent.
(B) EXPERIENCE: Three years’ teaching experience in the concerned Speciality after
acquiring post-graduate qualification as Lecturer/ Registrar/Senior Resident/
Demonstrator/ Tutor in a Recognized Medical College/ Teaching Institution.

Fee/Exam Fee for UPSC JSO, JTO:
(a) Candidates (Except Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability
Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of
Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty five) only either by remitting the money in any
branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of any bank or by
using Visa/Master/Rupay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI payment.
(b) No fee for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates of any community. No
“fee exemption” is available to Gen/OBC/EWS male candidates and
they are required to pay the full prescribed fee.
